Advocacy is about raising awareness and empowering change by clearly communicating a problem and a specific solution to gain support. Spokane Tribal Network is dedicated to advocating for important causes and raising awareness about critical issues. Our advocacy includes community engagement, collaborative efforts, action teams and community coalition to address social injustices and promote positive change.
Children of the Sun Community Coalition yoyot
The coalition meets once a month to identify community issues that need to be addressed before they become overwhelming. The coalition includes representatives from public safety, STN, tribal health, Wellpinit school district, and other departments from tribal administration
Tribal Food Sovereignty qe cut
The Tribal Food Sovereignty (TFS) action team facilitates monthly meetings to connect with partners from community, aligned nonprofits, local universities, foundations, and regional, federal, and state agencies. In this meeting we share information, successes, and lessons learned from recent and upcoming projects, events, needs, and opportunities.
Indigenous Birth Justice qe cut
STN offers doula certification training, parent education workshops, peer-to-peer gatherings, and healing circles for pregnant or lived experience people living in Spokane tribal communities to learn about Indigenous Birth Justice and how to overcome the inequity found in western medicine.
