Leadership Role
- Board members: Serve on local boards and help with fundraising and marketing programs. Be the face of STN in your community and ensure we are serving your community well.
- Volunteer services: Assist with volunteer recruitment, placement, record keeping and recognition for STN.
- Community volunteer leader: Community Volunteer Leaders (CVL) act as a “face of STN” to the community and focus upon recruiting volunteers and managing key local relationships.
Communication Skills
- Social media: assist in developing monthly newsletter and its distribution. Update Facebook pages (three) with activities and items. Distribute event information through all social media platforms. Update YouTube channel with videos captured during events, activities, and STN participation in community activities.
Grant researching/Writing: Assist the fundraising team as they research, write, and implement grants. - Speakers: Provide presentations about STN programs in the community.
- Public Affairs: tell the STN story to communities within eastern Washington.
- Advocacy: Engage your friends and followers on the topics that matter to you: like food sovereignty, indigenous birth justice, or youth empowerment.
Fundraising Efforts
- Special events : Support fundraising and special events.
- Thank a donor: Make calls to thank Red Cross financial donors.
- Invitations to events: Make calls to invite all donors to participate in community activities.
Office and Facilities Support
- Clerical: Assist with administrative tasks.
- Logistics Support: Help with routine supply chain duties such as stocking supplies and checking inventory at food sovereignty site, STN main office, or IBJ center.
Youth Volunteers (25 and younger)
Leadership Roles
- Board member: serve on the board as a youth representative.
- Youth council: serve on the youth council to mentor other youth and serve as a role model. Learn leadership skills.
- Peer mediator: learn about mediation and become a mediator in your school to diffuse scenarios that can cause harm to your peers.
- Volunteer services: assist with youth volunteer recruitment, placement, and record keeping, and recognition.
- UNITY (United National Indian Tribal Youth) Annual Conference: potential to attend a leadership program that is culturally relevant and designed to empower youth to realize their potential.
Internships
- Explore: explore potential career paths that include working for a non-profit organization, understanding the impact of food sovereignty, indigenous birth justice, community organization, and empowering youth.
- Experience: gain practical experience in one or more of the programs offered by STN and develop key professional skills.
- Build: build a professional network.
- Boost: increase your job prospects and expand your resume.
- Apply: apply your classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.
