Our Members

We are proud to introduce our talented team of members who bring a diverse range of skills, expertise, and experience to our non-profit organization. Each member is committed to delivering exceptional work and exceeding expectations in their respective roles. Our members work collaboratively to achieve our goals and deliver the best results for our kids. We believe that our team’s collective passion, dedication, and drive is what sets us apart, and we are honored to have each member be a part of our organization.

Penny Spencer

Director

Penny is a grandmother, mother, auntie and Director for Spokane Tribal Network aka STN. STN is a non-profit that is located on the Spokane Reservation and services the counties that border the Reservation.  Penny has worked for the school district and the Tribe before coming to STN. She is dedicated to the youth and families on and around the Spokane Reservation.  She enjoys going out and gathering plants with her granddaughters. Getting into the classroom and teaching out to prepare the plants into teas and salves is something she truly takes pleasure in doing. She recently completed the Tend Gather Grow Plateau Cohort training where she now has a group of people to help with the work.

Will Dennison

Administrative Assistant

William Dennison is an enrolled citizen of the Spokane Tribe of Indians and currently resides on the Spokane Indian Reservation. He is the oldest of 8 siblings and enjoys outdoor recreation such as hiking, camping, skiing and wildlife viewing just to name a few. William holds a background in Business Management and Hospitality. Before his current role as Administrative Assistant for Spokane Tribal Network (STN), he successfully managed 4 Best Western Hotels in 3 States (WA, ID, OR). He is a hardworking team-player, certified in Peer Mediation and Youth Mental Health First Aid. William along with STN hopes to support people of all ages, families of all kinds, and unite with like minded people and programs for maximum wellbeing throughout his Tribe and Community.

Kimberly Norman

Coalition Coordinator

My role with STN is the Coalition Coordinator for the Children of the Sun Community Coalition. I am a Spokane Tribal member and live in Ford on the Spokane Reservation with my Husband and children. I am passionate and committed to empowering our people and building upon our community’s strengths. I enjoy this opportunity to provide different resources on our reservation which includes Strengthening Families Program, Mentoring Program GONA- Gathering of Native Americans, SPORT Prevention Wellness Plus Implementation, medication lock boxes, we provide Prescription Take Back days and also take pride in being an  advisor to the Spokane Tribal Youth Council.

Melodi Wynne

Cultural Psychologist

Melodi Wynne is a citizen of the Spokane Tribe, and resides on her ancestral homelands on the upper Columbia Plateau. She holds a doctorate in Community and Cultural Psychology and agraduate certificate in Conflict Resolution from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Melodi speaks on behalf of Tribal food sovereignty whenever called to do so, including middle and high school classrooms, local university programs, indigenous podcasts, coalition meetings, and conferences. She is a member of the NW Tribal Food Sovereignty Coalition, and serves on theeducation group. Along with several other prairie-grassroot champions, Melodi formed the social media groups that have led to greater awareness of the need for Tribal food sovereignty throughout the homelands of the Spokane Tribe. She currently works with the nonprofit, Spokane Tribal Network, to demonstrate the potential for Tribal Food Sovereignty within the Spokane Tribal community and region.

Jamie Lovato

Projects Coordinator for SFL & IBJ

Jamie Lovato is a member of the Spokane Tribe. Jamie resides in Valley, Washington. Jamie is a mother of 2 children. During the summer months, Jamie is either on the river banks fishing or in a huckleberry patch. Jamie’s passion is helping our community, especially our youth. Jamie’s passion is Native plant gathering and teaching, sharing her knowledge with others. Jamie had worked in the Wellpinit school district for many years. Jamie’s other passion is Indigenous Birth Justice, helping Native families in any and all areas.

Lynette Pflueger

Projects Coordinator for TFS

Lynette Pflueger is a descendant of the Spokane Tribe of Indians and resides in Spokane with her partner and son. Lynette graduated from the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles with a degree in Culinary Arts in 2006. Since then she has built a career in baking and pastry in various establishments around the country earning recognition from Food & Wine Magazine (nominated for The People’s Best New Pastry Chef, 2013), Starchefs online magazine (featured 2013), and the prestigious James Beard House (Featured Chef, 2016). Lynette is eager to combine her culinary knowledge and her passion for traditional foods, plants, medicine, and sustainability to support Spokane Tribal Network and the Tribal Food Sovereignty Project.
