Gathering of Native Americans

A journey of healing and transformation. It is as much about healing the past as it is about building the future. It is used to provide training and build resources around mental and substance use disorders, suicide prevention & mental health promotion.  We have been able to use GONA tools in many ways to help bring awareness around bullying, lateral violence and also for strategic planning.  GONA focuses on 4 themes of Belonging, Mastery, Interdependence and Generosity. https://www.samhsa.gov/sites/default/files/gona-goan-curriculum-facilitator-guide.pdf

BELONGING

In the journey of healing and transformation, belonging plays a crucial role in helping individuals feel supported and valued. By developing a sense of belonging, individuals can build a foundation for personal growth and positive change. GONA tools can be used to explore how to build and maintain strong relationships, establish a sense of identity, and feel connected to one’s culture and community.

MASTERY

In the journey of healing and transformation, belonging plays a crucial role in helping individuals feel supported and valued. By developing a sense of belonging, individuals can build a foundation for personal growth and positive change. GONA tools can be used to explore how to build and maintain strong relationships, establish a sense of identity, and feel connected to one’s culture and community.

Interdependence

Interdependence is the recognition that we all rely on each other and that our actions impact those around us. In the journey of healing and transformation, interdependence emphasizes the importance of relationships and community. By building strong connections with others and recognizing the impact of our actions, individuals can develop empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility for their actions. GONA tools can be used to explore how to build and maintain healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively towards common goals.

Generosity

Generosity is the act of giving back and making a positive impact in the world. In the journey of healing and transformation, generosity can help individuals feel a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives. By contributing to the well-being of others, individuals can build empathy, gratitude, and a sense of connection with their community. GONA tools can be used to explore how to identify opportunities for giving back, develop a sense of gratitude, and make a positive impact in the world.

More Projects

Tribal Food Sovereignty

Food sovereignty is typically defined as "the right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods".

Strengthen Families Locally

Strengthen Families Locally aims to increase family resilience and reduce rates of child maltreatment and entry into foster care in target communities. The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) has partnered with STN to help achieve these outcomes in Stevens & Ferry Counties. It is funded by the Administration for Children and Families and is a 5-year project started in 2019. Micaela Carroll is the Coordinator and Penny Spencer is the financial and support to the contract.

Indigenous Birth Justice

The work of revitalizing and honoring ancestors who survived and thrived for us to be on this earth is always important to keep in our hearts.

Indigenous Birth Justice work is made possible by Perigee Fund.
